Fees explained

The majority of AXA Health-recognised individual providers have accepted our agreement and follow our Schedule of Procedures and Fees. We believe contracting with providers ensures fair and transparent dealings between us. It also helps ensure private healthcare offers good value for our members.

In return, we offer:

  • the possibility of increased (specialist) referrals through our specialist appointment booking service
  • negotiated fee uplifts in individual, complex cases
  • no risk of fee shortfall to patients
  • higher fees than for fee-limited providers.

Fee-limited providers, who don’t follow our Schedule of Procedures and Fees:

  • won’t receive patients referred by our specialist appointment booking service
  • receive fees which are 20% lower than those of fee-approved specialists
  • can’t see all our members, as certain plans ask that patients see fee-approved doctors
  • must recover any fee shortfall from patients.

When patients seek to authorise procedures proposed by a fee-limited specialist, our Personal Advisers will offer them the choice of seeing a fee-approved specialist, who won’t make them pay a fee shortfall.
